Tuna's are finally here...
Tunas!! Can’t believe it. Good catches of yellowfin tuna have been reported this week in Hatteras. Most are between 30-50lbs. They seem to be over the hundred fathom line for the most part. The gaffer fishing is also hanging in there with many being caught up to 40+lbs. Limits are being caught by many boats when they can locate them. Further north at Oregon Inlet the bite is similar with a few more tuna and a few less dolphin which is to be expected this time of the year. The marlin bite is sporadic but seem to make a showing each day. They seem to still be a mix of Blues, whites, and sails. A few king mackerel showed up in shore and inside the inlet along with the bluefish and flounder. Triggers seem to be the catch of the week on the inshore wrecks while the big red drum seem to be making an appearance on the beaches for the surf fishermen. All in all good fishing.
