5/24 Report; courtesy of Captain Brian Foley :
Dolphin fishing has picked up in the last couple of days. We had several gaffers from 20 to 45 lbs. They are still offshore a bit 35 miles. Look for a color change or big temp break. Temp this week has varied from 73-78 degrees. The marlin also made a appearance. A fair number of White's, Sail's and few Blue's. Hopefully the current trend will continue and the warm water will keep moving closer. I think the best fishing is still to come. Cobia fishing still remains to be inconsistent. It is a toss up weather you run to the west towards Ocracoke or out to the east towards the point. If you can find the large schools you can cast bucktails or eels to them. Singles and doubles seem to be a little shy towards bucktails. A pitch of a live bait is a better option for them if available. With the NE wind this week it may push the cobia into the large schools that were seen last week as the warm water is blown east.
